Terpenes are plant-based molecules that create unique smells, flavors, and effects. They’re used in foods, candles, personal products, perfumes, and countless other products. You can create dramatic changes to something’s flavor and smell by adding a small amount of terpenes.
We recommend using 0.1 mL to 0.5 mL of terpenes per gram of your extract. Start on the lower end and then add more for your desired flavor. Some profiles are more pungent and require less than other profiles, so experiment until you find your favorite aroma and flavor. See our mixing guide for more information.
Terpenes aren’t made. They are extracted from plants. We use a steam distillation process on natural botanic plants like fruits and flowers. We isolate individual terpenes, then recombine them into profiles that match the profile of other strains. Basically, we recreate the exact same terpene strain you would find in cannabis without ever touching cannabis.
Add your concentrate to a glass container and heat it until 120 F. Stir with a metal stirrer until it’s fluid, then add your terpenes. Mix everything together and add to your cartridge or device.
Yes, all of our products are food grade.
Absolutely not. We do not use solvents, fillers, additives, vitamin E, or chemicals of any kind. Our products are 100% terpenes.
Every terpene has a different molecular weight, so each blend varies slightly. But generally speaking, 1 mL of terpenes weighs about .8 grams, give or take a bit.
Keep your terpenes in a cool and dark place. A cabinet that is room temperature would be fine, just make sure it stays below 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Seal them tightly so they don’t evaporate.
Terpenes have been used as flavor ingredients and are safe to ingest when rated “Food Grade or GRAS” (GRAS stands for Generally Recognized As Safe and refers to food additives). While our terpenes can be safe to ingest, they must be diluted prior to use and should only be used by trained professionals. Refer to the specific SDS for details.
Terpenes have been used as flavoring and aroma molecules for a long time in a variety of commercial industries, such as: food, drinks, candles, soaps, lotions, concentrates, and others.
While there is still a great deal to be discovered and understood, what you should know is that terpenes interact synergistically to create what scientists refer to as an “entourage effect”. The entourage effect magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components so that the medicinal impact of the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts.
